Two roads in, and they are not the same road
From Santa Barbara there is a choice, and it decides the vehicle. State Route 154 crosses the San Marcos Pass at 2,181 feet through the Santa Ynez Mountains - 32.3 miles, two lanes with occasional passing lanes, officially a scenic highway and genuinely worth the drive in the right car. US-101 through Gaviota is the longer way round and the easier one. For a sedan or a small stretch the pass is a pleasure; for a coach or a twenty-passenger super stretch the 101 is the sensible answer. The towns are small and the driving between them is the day
Los Olivos had 1,202 people at the 2020 census. These are not places you spend a day in individually - the itinerary is three or four tasting rooms across two or three towns, with real driving in between. That is the whole argument for a chauffeur rather than a designated driver: the person who would otherwise be driving is the one who paid for the tasting. Hourly service with a three-hour minimum Monday to Thursday is the only shape that fits a day like this.
Where the day starts changes everything about it
From Camarillo the valley is a genuine distance - Solvang alone is about 46 miles north-west of Santa Barbara, and Santa Barbara is already the far end of our area. That makes a valley day one of the longest bookings we run, and it makes the pickup time and a realistic finish time the two most useful things you can send. It also makes it worth asking whether the group is coming home the same night or staying, because those are quite different quotes.

- It depends on the vehicle. State Route 154 over the San Marcos Pass at 2,181 feet is 32.3 miles of two-lane scenic highway and suits a sedan or a smaller stretch. US-101 through Gaviota is longer and much better for a coach or a super stretch. Tell us the vehicle and the group and we will pick the road that fits.
